Karon Pierson

Since I was a little girl I had always wanted to work with children, be it as a social worker or teacher.  After leaving school I went straight into the working world and was in the corporate game for 12 years.  I was never truly happy and was determined to make my dream a reality.  I started studying Early Childhood Development while au-pairing and after 3 years got my first teaching position. I taught for 2 years and was then offered an amazing opportunity of starting up and managing a second branch of the school where I was teaching. After 10 very happy years and the birth of my beautiful daughter we re-located from Johannesburg to the Western Cape where Ashron Pre-primary was born.  I wake up every morning looking forward to seeing all the happy little children and watching them develop into, independent, confident little people.  I work with an amazing team of ladies and can truly say that I am living my dream.

Priscilla Phiri
Junior class Teacher

Over the past 8 years my life has been centred around children in a variety of ways.  I have 8 years’ experience in Early Childhood Development working with children from 1year old – 5year olds.  I completed Level 4 ECD and have taken additional classes through Edu-care. I am a mom of two and enjoy spending time with my family.  I feel fortunate to be in a profession where I am allowed to guide and observe children at such a fun and important developmental stage in their lives.  I enjoy every aspect of teaching and have realised over the years that children teach us as much as we teach them.

Magda Burgers
Senior class Teacher – Grade R

I have always had a love for children and started studying Early Childhood Development in 2007 after my mother who played a very big role in my life recognised the potential in me and encouraged me to study.  In 2008 I started my practical hours at a school in the Free State.  From 2009 – 2012, I taught computers and was the Grade R class assistant.  During this time I had a constant mentor who taught me most of what I know today. In 2013 I was offered a permanent position and taught various ages from 2years – 6 years until 2015 when I met my husband and we did missionary work for a year.  I started working at Ashron Pre-primary in 2017, teaching Grade RR & R.  I feel blessed and grateful to teach children and to be working with experienced, loving colleagues on a daily basis. I am very happy in my career choice and very grateful for all the encouragement from my mother, mentor, principal and husband.

Daisy Chivhenge
Senior Class Assistant/Chef

I have been working with children over the past 3 years. I am the class assistant in the Senior phase and also prepare the meals for the children on a daily basis. I see every day as an opportunity to watch the children grow and develop into little people.  I have always enjoyed cooking and being the Chef at school lets me express my love for cooking and children through the meals that I prepare for them.

Pretty Katsande
Junior Class Assistant

I have been working at Ashron Pre-primary since 2017 in the Junior phase and love working with them and seeing their uniqueness and constant development.  I especially enjoy working with the toddlers because I get to see their “firsts” and their big beautiful smiles when I walk into the classroom.  I am currently studying for my National Certificate in accounting and hope to further my studies while enjoying the happiness of seeing the children learn and grow.  For me there is nothing more gratifying or rewarding than working with children.
